Big Walk Endings: Normal and True Ending, Step by Step
How to reach both Big Walk endings — the Black Tower normal path and the secret final-key true ending — spoiler-marked, step by step.
Spoiler Warning
This page describes both endings’ full structure. If you’d rather discover the island yourself, stop here and read the beginner’s guide instead. Structure only — we avoid narrative details where the impact matters.
The Normal Ending (Big Walk / Big Goodbye)
The standard path most groups finish in one or two long sessions:

- Activate all towers. The number depends on the host’s chosen layout — 2, 3, or 4+ (see the island map).
- Travel to the Black Tower, the island’s central structure, once the towers are done.
- Claim the Black Key along the tower route.
- Open the Wall — the great barrier on the island’s edge — with the Black Key.
- Enter the huge black sphere beyond the Wall. Inside is a cooperative puzzle room: work through its hanging mechanisms together, then press the final button beside them.
- Cross the water to the small hut on the far side. Wave goodbye to each other with the Wave Goodbye emote (Q/E on PC), press the button, and step through the door together — this is the Big Goodbye.
This path awards the Big Walk and Big Goodbye achievements, two of the game’s 12 total covered on the achievements list.
The True Ending (Secret)
The hidden path continues in the same save after the normal ending:
- Finish the normal ending first. The true-ending content only unlocks afterward.
- Complete all seven purple challenges. They appear on the island map once the normal ending is done — no hunting for a secret door.
- Mop up everything remaining. The game checks that your group has completed every unfinished puzzle and delivery on the island, not just the purple set.
- Find the final key. Once the completion check passes, it appears near the spawn area where your run began.
- Open the hidden room the final key unlocks, settle in for the long reading inside, and step out through the white exit — the Big Game.
The true ending reframes the normal ending rather than replacing it, which is why most groups do the normal path first.
Which Should You Do First?
Normal, almost always. It teaches you the island’s puzzle families, gives you the full tool kit, and the true ending assumes that fluency — the purple challenges are endgame-difficulty. Also note: both endings live in the host’s world, so agree on the plan before anyone burns five hours.
Post-Game
After either ending, the island stays open. Twelve achievements mean there’s cleanup to do, and patch 1.4.8 (August 2026) fixed overly quiet audio for exactly these long co-op sessions.
